Ally Schmally

Some days when I'm walking thru the city, I feel like Ally Mc Beal. You remember that part of the show where she's walking thru the streets not talking (the good part of the show) and everyone wishes they had a similar walk home after work? I feel like that some days. I step off the bus or out of a taxi and head off to where ever it is that I'm going and I think 'yeah, that show really sucked'. It's on in syndication here. 5 times a week. Granted, they also show Seinfeld and Sex + the City, but still... Ally? Uugh.

It never fails to amaze me what makes it over the ocean. Like the day I realized that Wranglers and Lee Jeans were designer wear. Really, I need to hit K-Mart, clean them out of jeans and then set up a little market stall here. I'd make a small fortune. Tax(I) Boy and I rented movies this weekend. I was exhausted after the week of too many funerals, an "about damn time" wedding and yet another birthday. So we stayed in and rented movies. It's always an adventure renting movies. They have A Mighty Wind, but not Best In Show. They have Harry Potter 3 but not 1+2. I saw Blue and Red, but White, the middle one of the trilogy was MIA. Lots of Irish films (pronounced fill-um in Irish, sigh...) but not Waking Ned Devine or About Adam. And, most suprisingly, no Commitments. How that happened, I'll never know. We ended up watching Sweet + Low Down, an all time favorite of mine, but certainly obscure in America, even with the star power of Sean and Uma. And we saw DeLovely, which Tax(I) boy pronounced 'a magnificent' film. He doesn't use that word lightly. Or maybe he does... I've never paid attention. I mean, I've not noticed it before. Yeah. I pay attention! Sometimes. Anyway, highly recommend viewing DeLovely, except maybe you Mom, because they don't shy away from the fact that Cole Porter was actively bi-sexual. The music was wonderful though. Great sound track.
