It's true! And I never can tell when the next lesson will come from. The first one presented itself when I was in the grocery store. (shop they say here) I was buying some jam for my morning toast and I found Treacle jam. I thought it was something made up in her stories, but not. Treacle, whatever that really is, is real. For those of you not sure, Treacle tart is HP's favorite dessert. (yep, I'm that big of a geek)
The next lesson came when Tax Boy was explaining to me what the Night Link is. In HP, he escapes on the Night Bus in oneof the books. In Dublin, there is a special bus route that runs specific directions after the pubs close. It's the Drunk Wagon. You get on, pay the set fee and the bus takes you to a stop close to your home. One in each direction from what I can tell. Never been on it myself, but there you go.
Third, I was just reading my guide book to Paris and found out that Nicholas Flamel was a real person. He lived in Paris and they have decided to capitolize on his home. As they have with many homes of famous people. Really, the "So&so slept here" plaques seem to be in short supply in Paris from what I can tell in my book. Anyway, Nicholas Flamel was an alchemist that lived during the time period he does in the HP series and for some reason, since she put him on a chocolate frog card, I assumed he was fiction. Aparrently not.
So here I am in Ireland, learning about a story set in England by a Scottish Author. Hmmm....
