My friend John, whom I've mentioned before, has just returned from Baghdad. He's in the military and was posted there for a 5 month tour. He was on a base outside of the city and has posted some incredibly interesting reading HERE on his blog. Take some time, have a read thru the various posts, even if you find his talk about guns and weaponry... what? distasteful? uncomfortable? tiresome? irksome?? Whatever. Read it anyway. It's a rather interesting series of 'day in the life' vignettes you are likely to see anywhere else.
John- Glad you made it home safely. For the record, getting shot at while bird watching is not cool. It's still dangerous and I'll be joining Wife of 4 in kicking your ass for risking yourself for birds! Love you!
