Fall in Dublin

It's might autumnal out there these days. Autumnal just never sounds right, does it? But the air has gotten crisp, not cold, just a low enough dip on the thermometer to warrent a thick sweater if your Irish or a coat if you're from Texas. The leaves are turning a pale shade of light gold and falling on the streets. The air carries the smell of fall, which is really just rotting leaves, but that doesn't sound terribly romantic. It's nice being here really now. Going for walks is always more fun if your steps produce a crunch underneath them and the schch of leaves being kicked out of the way. It's been a long time since I've had a proper autumn. Dallas has Fall for about 2 weeks; same with spring. Ireland is all about Spring and Rain with occassional bouts of Fall and Winter. I'm quite liking it. This morning I woke up, positive it was too early for my alarm to be going off, it was just too dark, but by the time I was at my desk, it's all cleared up and as bright as can be. I can hear the leaves swaying in the wind just outside our windows. That's the thing about Dublin; it's blue skies for at least part of every day with very few exceptions. I would have loved to move to Seattle, but I couldn't handle the rain, and when I tell that to people here, they scoff at me. But...but! It's georgeous out today. Yesterday was overcast but warm, the day before was clear skies and warm. Really, the weather doesn't suck, it's just that you have all 4 seasons to deal with every day. Makes it hard to plan what to wear, but layers are always trendy. I'm starting to understand why.

I'm still a bit hazy from my monster trip. I'll get all the recaps posted soon, with photos, but for now, I'm still trying to do enough laundry to be able to unpack my last suitcase. It's tough to do several loads when you don't have a dryer. It also makes for less than soft and fluffy towels, but you adjust quickly when you're freezing and dripping wet. Any towel is a good towel at that point.

Went to see Wallace and Grommit: Revenge of the Were-Rabbit over the weekend. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I'm a big fan anyway, but Joe hadn't seen any of the clips and he loved it. Do what ever it takes to see it in the theatres; too much detail to see for a first time viewing at home. "CHEEEEESE, Grommit!" hee.....

"Revenge of the Were-Rabbit?" I guess Wallace and Grommit must have made one hell of an impression to have a sequal quickly produced to the "Curse of the Were-Rabbit." Must be one pretty pissed off Were-Rabbit. Hopefully it is as good as "Revenge of the Sith." I'm kidding Beth. Stop looking at the monitor like you want to kill me. Luckily I'm thousands of miles away. It is starting to get a little chilly here too. Palm trees do not really have leaves that rot and smell during the fall. Occasionaly one will fall and make a loud cruch on the sidewalk. It is the coolest because when you see one falling, you have to haul ass so that you don't get conked in the cranium. Can't wait for your pictures.

Not going to happen. I'm too fast. And if I did happen to be in a situation where it would be good to be wearing a helment, I wouldn't be pulling out the camera taking live action shots of myself getting wiped out by the Palm. Maybe if someone else had a camera and happen to be there at the right time, you might get your photo and I'd have my christmas card image. Oh well. Can't win them all.

Beth! I just found your e-mail with your blog link...girl, I am so proud/jealous! I don't know if you remember me, but I met you at the Italian club in Dallas (I worked at Morgan Stanley with Mark Caputo). This is an odd coincidence, just last night my boyfriend and I were talking about how we both want to go to Ireland...I immediately thought of you and then found your e-mail today...crazy. Anyway, I hope you are great. I have to starting reading about everything you have done now. E-mail me at merittw@hotmail.com. Ciao!
